The accent really threw me. I come from the same province as GGK, and I don't sound anything like that. Sounds like his work with Tolkien's son had a permanent effect on his speech.

I haven't read everything he's written, but I'm pretty close, and I have to say that few writers in historical fantasy have his consistent ability to eradicate all the socks of all the readers by knocking them all off.
He's got the kind of accent you pick up when you read everything and travel everywhere. I've heard it before from worldly individuals. I suspect Neil Gaiman is vocally drifting in this direction, as well.
