My Theory on How to Stop Monsanto

Reading through a seed catalog it was mentioned that it is getting difficult to find even remote growers who can supply non-GMO corn seeds. Monsanto is everywhere.

I've been thinking about how to effectively end them, though. The activists, I think, are going about it all wrong. Instead of trying to conquer Monsanto by open, honest activism, they ought to be using the same backroom, corrupt practices that drives the operation in the free market. If every anti-Monsanto organization bought up shares of Monsanto, how much would it take to reach a controlling share? In this, dividends earned from the company can become the engine of destruction, as those dividends are used to buy up more shares. If about half a million dollars were generated, across all the shells and activist organizations, a pretty large share of the company could be owned. Heck, there are people in this world who could buy Monsanto outright without even a wince on their balance sheets. Once a controlling share is created, destruction begins.

Liquidate everything but the patent on the genomes. Hoard that. Never, ever sell that, or donate that, or anything. Just let them sit in a box in the imaginary world where unused intellectual property waits out the laws.

If rich men and women really wanted to save the world, this would be one way. It would be easier than getting a law passed, and cheaper, most likely.

  1. Monsanto's a $19 billion company, so your activists would need to be very well funded. They would also probably not get too far before Monsanto figured out what was happening, and "poison pill"ed the strategy (by greatly expanding the number of stocks held by people seated on the board).

  2. Bill Gates could do this tomorrow. You don't have to buy all 19 billion. You just need a controlling share.

  3. first its a $40 b company -- what they do is completely above board they didn't lie to the public like dupont did. They didn't create crap science like the French scientist who created data to try to show something that is harmless. They dont lie like the organic millionaires who funded the ca vote

  5. Howdy Tony S, and thanks for your comment. I think this is the first time you commented here, and I think it's interesting you've suddenly decided to stand up for corporations at a blog with a decidedly un-corporate angle.

You have quite an irritable tone in your posts, which I can only attribute to your love of Monsanto's many products. You see one of the studied and frequently noted side effects of GMO crops is an irritability and distemper related to problems in your gut as a result of GMO crops. But, you don't have to take my word for it, nor do you have to go dig through journals or documentaries you won't believe anyway to locate proof of this. All you have to do is locate your household pet and try one month on Organic, non-GMO feed, followed by one month of GMO feed. Cats and dogs are right there, and easy to check out. Watch their temperament shift, with their health.

Science isn't just for journals. It's also something you can try at home.

    Best,

    Me
